Virginia Music Adventures (VMA), Inc., is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for young musicians in the Northern Virginia and Greater Washington, D.C. area to rehearse and perform music locally and on domestic and international tours. Led by some of Washington's finest professional musicians and educators, Virginia Music Adventures, Inc., provides comprehensive music instruction to pre-teen and teenage musicians across a range of musical styles.

VMA offers three ensembles in their community bands program:

  1. the Annandale Jazz Ambassadors focuses on "Big Band" jazz in both traditional and contemporary styles and travels internationally (for more information click here);
  2. the Wakefield Wind Ensemble provides a challenge in traditional concert band and symphonic wind ensemble repertoire in a small elite group setting; (for more information click here)
  3. the Chapel Square Combo, focuses on advanced improvisation, arranging, theory, and performance (for more information click here)

Band leaders Jeff Cummins and Aaron Broadus have been offering their unique approach of performance based music instruction to local youth for 25 years. In VMA they are joined by guest clinicians from the local professional musical community who contribute their expertise in master classes and sectional rehearsals regularly throughout the course of the program.

VMA ensembles have received awards of recognition by the City Council of the City of Los Angeles, the Ministry of Tourism of Nassau, The Bahamas, and the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia
