Virginia Music Adventures' Wakefield Wind Ensemble is comprised of young musicians age 12 - 18 who play traditional wind ensemble/concert band instruments. WWE rehearse and perform concerts in the local Washington DC area and on regional tours. Programs are offered during the school year and over the Summer months. WWE is geared toward the musician seeking a performance challenge beyond traditional large instrumentation concert band and symphonic wind ensemble. WWE provides a chamber music like setting to explore a variety of musical styles in a small elite group. Wakefield Wind Ensemble provides an opportunity for students to explore and develop their individual performance skills in a small group setting. Concerts are offered throughout the Greater Washington DC area and on regional tours providing participants opportunities to refine their performance skills in varied settings while participating in worthy community service and good will endeavors.

Band leaders Jeff Cummins and Aaron Broadus have been offering their unique approach of performance based music instruction to local youth for over 25 years. In VMA they are joined by guest clinicians from the local professional musical community who contribute their expertise in master classes and sectional rehearsals regularly throughout the course of the program.
The Wakefield Wind Ensemble holds rehearsals on Fridays, 4:00-6:00pm during the school year and daily in the summer at the Little River United Church of Christ, 8410 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003.
