Wakefield Wind Ensemble

Virginia Music Adventures' Wakefield Wind Ensemble is a group of young musicians age 12 - 18 who play concert band instruments and who rehearse and perform concerts in the local Washington DC area. Programs are offered in the Fall, Spring and Summer months. Geared toward the player looking for a challenge in traditional concert band and symphonic wind ensemble styles while playing in a small elite group, the Wakefield Wind Ensemble provides a chamber music like setting for students to explore and develop their individual performance skills in a small group setting. Concerts throughout the Greater Washington DC area and Commonwealth of Virginia provide participants opportunities to refine their performance skills in varied settings.

Band leaders Jeff Cummins and Aaron Broadus have been offering their unique approach of performance based music instruction to local youth for over 25 years. In VMA they are joined by guest clinicians from the local professional musical community who contribute their expertise in master classes and sectional rehearsals regularly throughout the course of the program.

The Wakefield Wind Ensemble holds rehearsals on Fridays, 4:00-6:00pm during the school year and daily in the summer at the Little River United Church of Christ, 8410 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003.

Positions in the Wakefield Wind Ensmble are gained through a registration process. Preference is given to returning band members
